Set across a cluster of 18th-century mansions in the heart of Antalya's Old Town, Tuvana Hotel is a great base to explore the surrounding Turquoise Coast with all of its Ottoman history.
A real family affair – the original house at the heart of the property belonged to the grandmother of current owner Özgür Tankut and both the original and surrounding properties have been lovingly restored to charming effect. In line with the age of buidlings, things are traditional at this boutique hotel – simple furnishings and original architectural features create a homely, familial atmosphere.
As with any busy town, the good location does mean it can be a little noisy in the evenings but the gardens and pool area offer an inviting spot to cool off after a day pounding the streets and the staff here couldn't be more charming.
There's not one but four restaurants at Tuvana: Seraser is a fine dining restaurant with an international offering, Kaftani specialises in Turkish cuisine overlooking the pool, Il Vicino Pizzeria unsurprisingly offers Italian fare and Pio Gastro Bar & Bistro has a great cocktail menu with tapas-type dishes in a fun and buzzy setting.
The 46 rooms are tastefully and traditionally designed with polished wooden floors, antique furninishings and Ottoman influences.
The pool here is a treat – lined with lovely mosaic tiling and set amidst the hotel's verdant garden (open in the summer months).
Located in the in the KaleiçiL neighbourhood in the heart of the Old Town, the hotel is well placed to explore with the Clock Tower, Tekeli Mehmet Paşa Mosque and the old harbour all less than a 10-minute walk away. The nearest beach to the hotel, Mermerli Beach, is a 5-minute walk away with plenty more a short bus ride or drive away. There are also some great parks and waterfalls to explore and the lovely staff will happily help guide your wanderings.
