The Hezen Cave Hotel is a winning blend of the classic, ancient stone style and a cool boutique hotel. It has dark, cavernous corners but with fresh pops of colour in the brightly painted doors and window frames. Then there are those spectacular views, so easily enjoyed from the sweet, shaded rooftop terrace with its wrap-around cream sofas and green vine walls.
The service here is second to none, and it’s worth being that little further out from the centre of town just so the staff can be your guides – happily mapping out where you should eat, drink and visit. A great pick.
A great breakfast is served and is included in most room rates (check detail below). There is an honesty bar but no restaurant, so you will need to head into Ortahisar or Ürgüp for lunch and dinner.
In line with many of the hotels in this region, the 15 rooms are cave-like – cut into the rock and offering a traditional and simple design. There are three room types available, with each step up offering more space than the last and the most expensive coming out positively expansive.
Located in Ortahisar, a charming small town and home to the famous Ortahisar Castle. The Göreme National Park and Ürgüp are both a 10/15-minute drive away. The hotel can help organise horse riding, hot air ballooning and tours.
