Hotel Sahrai is a luxury 50-room boutique property in Fez with spectacular views of the large Medina; hailing from the Moroccan word for magic, it delivers an experience that is exactly that, and one that's rich in culture too. Built on the former site of Marshal Lyautey’s summer palace, this jewel is ideally located between the New Town and the Medina and enjoys a prime hilltop position with breathtaking views of the city.

Forward-thinking French designer Christophe Pillet created modern, timeless interiors, combining them with contemporary Moroccan art and striking features such as the scenic rooftop bar.

Feast on the likes of artichoke pie with truffle cream, bouillabaisse of Marseille with croutons and rouille, or honey-glazed roast duck breast with pear and fennel seeds.

For a pre-meal drink check out Jungle; sip on a glass of wine out on the terrace or indoors where you'll be greeted by funky, modern interiors. They also have an appetising Tapas menu. Or for another option, head to relaxed rooftop lounge Lyautey, where a range of classic cocktails are served with stunning sunsets as the backdrop.

If you're after Moroccan cuisine, you won't be disappointed with the authentic and traditional dishes at sophisticated Amaraz. Dig into pastilla filled with quail or seafood, tajine with turbot, prawns, crushed tomatoes, lemon, and preserved olives, or leg of lamb with saffron, coriander, grilled almonds, and hard-boiled eggs.

And white marble Arcades below the arches is the place to catch up with a friend for lunch, coffee or Afternoon Tea any day of the week.

The 50 spacious rooms at Hotel Sahrai combine classic interiors with bespoke furniture and ornate detail.
