Back in the 15th-century, the prestigious and noble Strozzi family resided in the ancient tower of this property. They were an influential and wealthy clan with roots in banking and politics, and power that rivalled that of the Medici. These days, the Florentine mansion houses a contemporary boutique hotel with 30 individually decorated rooms and suites, and boasts original Renaissance features such as frescoes and vaulted ceilings.
The location couldn't be more central: just a stone’s throw from the River Arno, and a 6-minute walk from Ponte Vecchio, you’re ideally positioned for a city break wandering the historic streets.
Note: if you find yourself in Venice, Hotel Bucintoro is the sister of this property.
The on-site Golden restaurant focuses on Florentine cuisine using quality ingredients. Stop by the bar for a pre-meal tipple (the space also serves light bites), before feasting on regional dishes in the stylish red-hued dining room.
Beyond the hotel walls there are innumerable eateries to try, from romantic La Giostra and Cantina Barbagianni, both just a 12-minute stroll away, to traditional plates at Trattoria Mario.
Spread across 11 categories from basic up to the Golden suite, the soundproofed bedrooms are decorated with soothing honey tones and plenty of modern amenities such as Carrara marble bathrooms. Depending on your choice, you'll look out to the rooftops, the internal courtyard, or the pedestrianised walkway below. Some rooms can be found in the atmospheric tower, where the Strozzi family lived during the Renaissance. Tower Strozzi is a popular choice, featuring original stone walls and hand-painted ceilings.
The spa houses a Turkish bath, a Whirlpool, a sauna, and a treatment area where expert wellness professionals are on hand for massages and beauty therapies.
But who travels to Florence without exploring the sights? There’s so much to see and do, and virtually all of it is within walking distance. Within a 15-minute stroll you’ll find: Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, Piazza del Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, Brunelleschi’s dome, Galleria dell'Accademia, and Santa Croce. Wander over the Arno and discover the green spaces of Bardini and Boboli, and for some high-end shopping, make your way to Via De’ Tornabuoni, just a 2-minute amble from the hotel.
Beyond the city, Tuscany awaits: the rolling hills, Chianti vineyards, and a host of quaint villages are within an hour’s drive. The Mall outlet is 35 minutes from the city centre, and both Pisa to the west and Siena to the south are around 60 minutes by car.
Pets are not allowed.
Parking is available for €35.00 per night.
The hotel has an agreement with a local garage: the cost is €35 per night for cars, and €45 per night for minivans. A car valet service is included.
