Nestled away off a nice looking courtyard in Milan’s trendy Porta Venezia neighbourhood, La Locanda del Pino offers an unexpectedly peaceful retreat in the heart of this vibrant city.
With just a handful of rooms, this charming little spot is more boutique B&B than hotel and accordingly amenities are light and reception isn't manned all day. Nonetheless, the owner, Giulio, is the perfect host and there is a lovely intimate feel that you struggle to find in larger places.
It's worth noting that reception is not manned 24-hours a day, so do confirm your arrival time ahead of travelling.
A good continental breakfast is served in the mornings, and is included in most room rates (see detail below). There is no restaurant on site but you are spoilt for choice nearby and Giulio is happy to share his recommendations.
The four rooms are comfortable and traditional. Whilst they don't boast views (some windows are frosted) they are well designed with beautiful antiques and hand-painted furnishings. Those on the upper floors even offer amazing fresco covered ceilings.
Set in the trendy Porta Venezia neighbourhood, La Locanda del Pino is within walking distance of many of Milan’s sights. The Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II are both a 25-minute walk away.
