If you’re looking for a stylish, comfortable and great value base for your visit to Rome, the 1880 Atypical Rooms is it. Set in a majestic 19th-century noble palazzo on the bustling Via Nazionalle, you couldn’t be better placed to explore the city, not to mention the plethora of bars, shops and restaurants nearby.
Artistic and modern, the boutique hotel is decked out with quirky Italian paintings, including pieces from the celebrated Marco Tamburro. For an added touch of elegance, some of the original brickwork is also left exposed across the hotel.
It is worth noting that in keeping with other small hotels, reception is open between 8am and 8pm.
A simple breakfast spread that includes pastries, meats and cheeses is served in the mornings and is included in most room rates (see detail below). While there is no restaurant, there is a small bar and there are plenty of excellent restaurants and bars nearby.
At only six rooms, this small boutique is perfectly formed for an intimate and cosy getaway. Each room has been individually designed, all with high ceilings and chic décor. It is worth noting that some of the rooms are open plan, with showers incorporated into the room – while quite fun for the exhibitionists amongst us, they've helpfully added a curtain to protect those more modest.
Centrally located in Rome’s historic Monti district, the hotel is only a stone’s throw from the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, making it the perfect resting spot for sightseeing.
The friendly staff are more than happy to share their recommendations and to organise tours, tickets and airport shuttles.
