An original aristocratic Sicilian villa perched between the azure sea and the slopes of Mount Etna, this stunning boutique is one of our favourite spots in Sicily. With its painted ceramics, terracotta tiling and wrought iron, Villa Ducale feels more like a private home than a hotel, and the helpful concierge team are warmly welcoming.
Pull up a seat on the terrace and enjoy the spellbinding views of Taormina bay stretched before you, or venture down into the inviting waters yourself at the hotel’s exclusive beach club. In the evening, enjoy mouthwatering Sicilian delicacies as the lights of Taormina gently flicker below.
I am a people oriented person and I love to transmit my passion and my Sicilian culture to everyone that comes visiting me and every single time I try to offer through hospitality an entire different travel experience. Villa Ducale is a place that makes you dream with opened eyes. You will find a home away from home where you will be surrounded by beauty and good food. My favourite spot is our panoramic terrace: I love looking at Mount Etna and the coast while enjoying a glass of wine.
- Rosaria Quartucci, Owner
Breakfast at Hotel Villa Ducale is served on the terrace, which offers stunning views across the sea and the garden. The breakfast is famous throughout Taormina as one of the best in the region. Expect fresh fruits, homemade cakes and pastries among other delights.
Home-made Sicilian dishes are served at lunch and dinner and there is an extensive wine list to choose from. Sunset cocktails are served every evening with complimentary Sicilian appetizers.
Don't miss the complimentary Afternoon Tea and coffee, served at 5pm with a wonderful array of Sicilian cakes and biscuits!
What we loved...
At the top of Taormina this used to be the family home of the owner. The position, with far-reaching views across the coastline, is magnificent. This is a real gem and the most romantic spot in town. The food is delicious and there's no better way to spend an evening than having a bowl of pasta on the terrace. Sister property to Hotel Villa Carlotta, it's just as stylish, but a little more intimate.
It comes as no surprise that the 19 rooms and suites at Villa Ducale are filled with charm and authenticity. They have all been decorated using Sicilian traditions and materials, whilst still allowing guests to enjoy SKY TV and air-conditioning.
Many of the en-suite bathrooms feature large Jacuzzi tubs or walk-in showers. All rooms without exception have private terraces with spectacular views of the sea and Etna. Complimentary Satellite TV and WiFi are available throughout all of the rooms and suites.
The new lavish villa sleeps up to six people (four comfortably) featuring a large terrace with loungers, tables & chairs.
Unwind in the hotel’s enchanting Mediterranean garden, a peaceful spot perfumed by lush citrus trees and herbal bushes. If you fancy pampering yourself, take a dip in the garden’s Jacuzzi. Beach bunnies can take advantage of the complimentary shuttle service to the hotel’s two private beach clubs, which are fully equipped with changing rooms, sun-beds and showers.
For a spot of culture, explore the rambling streets of Taormina, home to bewitching Arabic buildings and an ancient Greek amphitheatre. With plenty of luxury boutiques, cafes and traditional restaurants, it’s the perfect place to get lost in. Further afield is the charming medieval village of Castelmola and the verdant slopes of Mount Etna.
