There is a wonderfully intimate and homely feel to Avogaria 5 Rooms, thanks in large part to the most charming of hosts: Francesco and Filippo. The style here offers a lovely blend of old and new with traditional Venetian antiques set neatly alongside more contemporary design.
It's worth noting that reception is not manned 24-hours a day. Pets are welcome in some rooms (extra charge applies).
A tasty breakfast is served each morning. There is no restaurant at the hotel but there are a host of eateries nearby.
The 5 rooms are stylishly done, boasting a nice blend of traditional and contemporary with graphic wallpapers, rather grand light fittings and smartly tiled, modern bathrooms. We'd recommend opting for a room with private garden for access to a lovely courtyard.
Note: a couple of the bedrooms are in a building next door – equally lovely and just a few steps from breakfast.
Location doesn’t get much better than the Avogaria 5 Rooms – you’re outside the tourist areas, ideal for local dining and a spot of peace and quiet, but within walking distance of many of Venice's main sights. St Mark's Square is under a 20-minute walk away, Gallerie dell'Accademia is a 10-minute stroll from the hotel, and the staff are happy to arrange guided tours.
