Rooms at Hotel Metropole are individually styled but all draw inspiration from Venice’s Golden Age, with luxurious red, ivory and gold fabrics and antique decorations from the owner’s private collection. It’s worth noting that rooms overlooking the Lagoon can sometimes be a bit noisy when the windows are open, so it’s worth bearing this in mind if you’re a light sleeper.

    Why so chic?

Why travel experts chose this hotel

    Chic Treats

Only when you book with Chic

A luxury boutique hotel that celebrates Venice’s celebrated past, Hotel Metropole has an eclectic character that has long made it a favourite of writers, artists and musicians. The hotel stands on the riva degli Schiavoni, overlooking the famous lagoon, and its history reaches back to the 16th-century. Antonio Vivaldi composed the Four Seasons in the original building’s chapel; Sigmund Freud, Thomas Mann and Marcel Proust have all stayed as guests.

    Dining

The Michelin-starred MET restaurant has an interior designed by atelier Raptus & Rose and evokes the grandeur of the Venetian Republic, whether in the brooding and intense Loggione, with its sharing table created from brìcole (navigation poles) from the Lagoon, or in the pink, floral Rose Room. The tasting menu celebrates Venetian cuisine and produce, with a twist inspired by Venice’s links with the Eastern world.

    Activities

The Citrus Garden, perfumed by jasmine, plum and orange trees is the perfect place to relax after a day spent exploring twisted canals and evocative streets. Although there are many fascinating museums to choose from in Venice, the Hotel Metropole’s collection antique oddities acquired over a period of nearly sixty years by owner Pierluigi Beggiato is well worth a visit. The eclectic display includes 19th-century visiting card cases, Belle Époque handbags, beautiful crucifixes, as well as unusual corkscrews and nutcrackers.

Hotel Metropole is ideally located just a short distance from many of Venice’s most recognisable landmarks. Take a short stroll  to the iconic Piazza San Marco, or uncover some of the Floating City's many secrets as you wander the characterful streets and romantic canals.
