During the day there’s the Seminyak market which is fun to browse and kids might like to pop into Kidsagogo on Jl. Kayu Aya No.29 which sells gorgeous clothes and accessories for up to 6 year olds. Along the same street is Australian-owned Sea Gypsy and a fun new shop called Baia Baia which sells flip flops which you design yourself and they make them while you wait.
If you need a spot of lunch to break up your shopping spree then there are plenty of gourmet spots or cafes to choose from. It’s worth remembering that smoking is allowed inside restaurants in Bali so be sure to ask for a non-smoking table if you prefer to dine in a ‘smoke-free’ zone. Still a favourite amongst discerning travellers, is Ku De Ta, right on the beach, which is a surfers hot spot. Quieter at lunchtime it still draws a crowd and parties here are just as popular as when it first opened.
For the best coffee and breaktast in Seminyak head to Revolver, just off a side street it’s open from 7 am and was already half full when I arrived at 7.30 – deliciously smooth coffees with a mouth-watering all-day menu satisfying vegans, vegetarians and carnivores. I loved the smashed avocado on sour dough with feta cheese and chili. It has a funky, very friendly vibe and you can sit inside in one of the air-conditioned rooms or in one of the little nooks on the street.
