Detailed Itinerary

Day One: Arrive Reykjavik and Blue Lagoon

On arrival in Reykjavik, head straight to the famous Blue Lagoon and enjoy the geothermal waters. The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa is one of the most visited attractions in Iceland. The steamy waters are a part of a lava formation. The warm waters are rich in minerals like silica and sulphur and bathing in the Lagoon is reputed to help some people suffering from skin diseases such as psoriasis. The water temperature is from 37-40°C. The Lagoon is fed by the water output of a nearby geothermal power plant. Superheated water is vented from the ground near a lava flow and used to run turbines that generate electricity. Then the water is fed into the lagoon for recreational and medicinal users to bathe in. After your time at the Blue Lagoon you will take the transfer back to the hotel. Your evening is at leisure.

Day Two: Scheduled Golden Circle Tour and Northern Lights

After breakfast, you will head out on your tour of the Golden Circle. You can walk around the world-famous Geysir area, a geothermal field where hot springs are in abundance, geysers explode and pools of mud bubble. One of many highlights of the tour is the Gullfoss waterfall, the queen of Iceland’s waterfalls. Finally, but no less spectacular is a visit to the Thingvellir National Park. This is the original site of the oldest existing parliament in the world. The Great Atlantic rift is clearly visible, a rift that is slowly pulling Iceland apart along tectonic plates. You will have an addition stop at a secret lagoon where you will get the opportunity of taking a dip in a natural hot spring. After your day touring the Golden Circle, you will head back to Reykjavik before you head out again tonight to try and spot the Northern lights.

Evening Northern Lights Tour**

The Northern Lights are a natural light displays in the sky, usually observed at night, particularly in the polar zone. Auroras seen near the magnetic pole may be high overhead, but from further away, they illuminate the northern horizon as a greenish glow or sometimes a faint red, as if the sun was rising
from an unusual direction. The aurora borealis occurs between September and April.

**The Northern Lights Tour is operated every day the conditions are right, based on weather, clouds and solar activity. The situation is appraised daily before a decision is made as to whether the tour is operated or not. In case of cancellations we will automatically forward your booking to the next night’s tour. If you go out and no lights are seen you can go again the next night the tour is operated and you can try again (one change is free of charge). Total duration of the tour is approximately 3-4hrs.

Day Three: Scheduled South Shore Tour with Glacier Walk

This morning, after breakfast you will head to the South. Travel through the south Iceland farming lands to the black sand beaches, thundering waterfalls, powerful volcanoes and majestic glaciers on the south coast. The first stop is at Skógarfoss. A picturesque waterfall thundering down the slopes of Eyjafjallajökull volcano. A waterfall frequently used in movies and commercials. The tour continues with an easy hike on the ancient ice of Sólheimajökull glacier with a knowledgeable and certified glacier guide. Then onwards for a leisurely stroll along the black sand beach of Reynisfjara. The beach features stacks of basalt columns that wall off surrounding cliffs scattered with caves. Offshore you will see Reynisdrangar pillars, basalt rock stacks that rise from the sea. Icelandic legend says they were trolls turned into rock by the rising sun when they came home late after a fishing trip. We round off this great sightseeing tour with a stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall where we can walk behind this magnificent wall of water, right in the slopes of Eyjafjallajökull volcano. On a clear day, you will have a fantastic view of famous volcanoes, Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull. You will also see the Westman Islands, rising steeply from the ocean just a few kilometres of the coast. After your time in the South, you will head back to Reykjavik. Enjoy a night at leisure.
