Azienda Agricola Mandranova is a small chic hotel on the di Vincenzo family farm, near Sicily's south coast, Palma di Montechiaro. The hotel is surrounded by olive groves, from which Silvia & Giuseppe produce their award-winning olive oil.
Set in a lovingly restored farmhouse and railway station, the hotel has been furnished with Sicilian ceramics and family heirlooms. Its traditional, homely ambience is coupled with Silvia's wonderful cooking to give you a true Sicilian experience.
With proximity to the majestic ruins of Agrigento, this charming boutique hotel is perfect for exploring the region or simply enjoying good Sicilian hospitality by the pool. We recommend bringing a car to the hotel to really make the most of the area.
Meal times at Azienda Agricola Mandranova are a real treat. Silvia cooks incredible traditional Sicilian dishes using fresh local ingredients. Vegetables are sourced from the garden, and the olive oil comes from the groves around the farmhouse.
Guests meet for meals in the warmly-lit restaurant, or dine alfresco on the terrace. Expect a family-style atmosphere, with home-cooked delights. Dietary requirements can be catered for on request.
Azienda Agricola Mandranova has ten doubles, one junior suite, five suites and a villa. Each are individually decorated with authentic Sicilian features and family heirlooms. Beautiful tiles from Caltagirone - famed for its ceramics production - line the floors and exposed beamed ceilings, rustic furnishings and charming beds from carved cherry-wood queen-size twins to wrought-iron fourposters with delicate white canopies give the rooms a warm & elegant feel.
Rooms are doubles, and the Tunisina room can also be a twin, and suites have various arrangements from 1 bedroom with sofa beds for extra guests in the living room to 2 bedrooms with additional sofa beds. For those who want a little extra independence, Casello and Robazza are both self-catering with kitchens and living rooms. Casello can fit up to 8 guests while Robazza can accommodate 6, great for families or groups of friends. Robazza also has a panoramic terrace and private pool.
En-suite bathrooms come with either bath or shower and the Piccionaia room has a shower room & outdoor shower on the large terrace with wonderful views of the olive groves and the garden's palm trees. All rooms have air-conditioning & central heating.
Silvia not only cooks up a storm in the restaurant, but offers cookery classes where guests can learn to make traditional Sicilian dishes. Her delicious almond cake is to die for, and her Sicilian pasta dishes use Mandranova's sumptuous olive oils and ingredients from the garden. The friendly owners also offer tours of the olive groves, giving an interesting insight into how they produce their fine oils.
From its hilltop position, the small fresh-water swimming pool has lovely views, and guests can have a pre-dinner tipple out in the garden. After a long day, curl up by the TV in one of the living rooms.
Down on the coast, Mandranova have their own 38-foot boat, the Tornado. Giuseppe takes guests out dolphin spotting, or swimming in the warm season, which is broken up by a tasty lunch on the small island of Saint Nicola Rock. The trip ends with a trip to the fish market in Port Licati.
The ancient Parthenon at Agrigento is just half an hour from the hotel, and Palma di Montechiaro has some beautiful architectural delights.
