The VIEW Lugano sits majestically on the hill of Paradiso overlooking Lake of Lugano. Not only has it introduced a brand new boutique hotel concept to the area, but also to Europe: to enjoy the feeling of being on a luxury yacht in the middle of a city.
Chef Mauro Grandi’s on-site restaurant with panoramic lake views was born from passion and creativity, and the recipe for its success lies in the originality of the team's dishes. The ingredients used are local wherever possible, and seasonal of course, with inspiration taken from the Mediterranean. Choose from a tasting menu or à la carte: options range from crispy octopus with cream of cannellini beans and tomato powder to pork with artichokes and baby onions glazed
with spices and bacon crumble. Complement with a bottle of wine from the eclectic list, and be sure to start the evening with an apéritif out on the TreCinqueZero terrace (where you can also enjoy a more casual bistro selection of food).
Lugano itself is also a centre of fine dining; we recommend Al Portone (Viale Cassarate 3) for Italo-Swiss dishes. And those up for a drive might consider Verderamo (Vicolo del Frate 3A) in Castello Cabiaglio – just under an hour away, it serves exceptional, unpretentious northern Italian cooking.
Each of the 16 junior suites are 50 square metres, plus there are 2 larger options both at a whopping 105 square metres. All have their own private balcony facing Lake Lugano, and have been decorated and designed with 5 star luxury in mind; teak floors, scented pillows, a choice of fine satin bedlinen, chromo showers, a choice of bathroom products – the bespoke service you'd expect onboard a luxe yacht.
The saunas, hammams (Turkish baths), whirlpool, and salt room allow guests to truly relax, and every treatment is designed to fit each individual's needs, creating a deeply personal and unique spa experience. The pool is 18 metres long, and with its stunning lake and mountain views it's the ideal place to unwind and destress, while the gym is fully equipped with the latest Technogym equipment.
Lugano is the biggest city in the Ticino region and a charming place to visit. There are a host of things to do and see including scenic lake trips, shopping tours to Via Nassa, mountain walks, and lunch in a traditional Swiss grotto. Art lovers shouldn't miss The LAC, a cultural centre dedicated to music, visual and performance disciplines, while oenophiles will enjoy a trip to Fattoria Moncucchetto or Castello di Morcote.
